Belly dance comes from Egypt and Turkey, but it is now practiced all over the world by people from many diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The rhythm and melodies of the music can be very soulful and lyrical, but upbeat and happy at the same time. Not only is belly dancing fun to watch, it's also a great, low-impact form of exercise and a beautifully expressive art form. You will love this fun, friendly and educational performance!

NYRITYA-ARPAN School of Bharatnatyam & Indian Folk Dance in Edmond, OK in traditional dress true to their culture, will awe the audience with their grace, composure and understanding needed to negotiate the intricate positions in their dances.
Founder and director, Nashita Shah spent 17 years perfecting the art of traditional dance in her native India. She learned dance as a way to celebrate and preserve her culture, eventually performing with a dance company worldwide as a professional dancer for 5 years with well-known Bollywood actress Hema Malini in mythological story based ballets.
She eventually moved to Edmond, and opened her dance studio nine years ago where she educates students in the varied forms of Indian dance and on India itself. Students range in age from 5 to 15.
NORAHUA, means "friends" in the language of the Tarahumara (indigenous people from northern Mexico).
NORAHUA FOLKLORIC MEXICANO dance group, based in Oklahoma City, emphasizes the colorful, exciting, and diverse culture of Mexico. Founded in 1993, Norahua performs at various festivals, schools, and cultural events throughout Oklahoma and many nearby states.
Artistic director Jaime Fuentes studied Mexican Folkloric dance at Escuela Superior de Danza Folklorico in Chihuahua, Mexico. He is the recipient of numerous awards recognizing his work in the field of classic and folkloric dance, including the “2014 Most Outstanding Hispanic Dance Artist Award” by the Hispanic Arts Council of Oklahoma. He has dedicated his talent and experience to teaching both the technical and historic aspects of folkloric dancing. He motivates and inspires his students to work hard and to express their love for dance in the interpretation of the various dances that are representative of many states in Mexico. He believes that instilling cultural pride through dance is a healthy way to boost self-esteem and confidence in Latino youth.
Raices
CANDELA Latin Dancers and Raices youth troupe are led by Columbian performer and entrepreneur Marti Rickman from her unique hair salon and dance studio, Clip 'N' Hips.
The group showcases dancers from different parts of Latin America and the U.S., each with different strengths and a wide variety of cultural and artistic backgrounds. They are unified by one common factor: a passion for everything dance. Their expressive, high-energy yet sophisticated dance and rhythmic music will have you out of your seat and into the street.
BLASKAPELLA, the instrumental music performance group of the German American Society of Tulsa (GAST), specializes in traditional German music. The Blaskapelle Band was formed in 2000 largely through the efforts of Max Tankersley, assisted by the late Charles Tegeler. Max thought there was a need for a German band similar to bands he had heard while stationed with the U.S. Army in Berlin. Blaskapella started with four players and the director. The current band membership is over 20 with a full brass, percussion and woodwind compliment. Several of the original players have remained with the band.

GAST strives to promote and preserve the German language, culture, traditions and customes through educational, social activities and events.
Blaskapella and the GAST German dancers will present authentic German entertainment along with a few German food offerings. Be prepared for a fun-filled, crowd interactive time!

This award winning dance group was founded and is directed by Kumu Keali'ikiaehale Thompson, a native of Honolulu, Hawaii. Kealii's hascaptivated audiences all over Oklahoma for over 30 years and has traveled throughout the United States and internationally. You'll enjoy these spellbinding dancers!
WALKER & REED is a new start up band busting out on the local music scene. They're getting their name out there by playing at every event and local venue they can. We're glad to help these guys, some owhom are local firefighters, by giving them some time on our stage. Their music style is not yet fully defined, but we think you'll enjoy their sound. Help us help them jump-start their music career. Who knows, there may come a day when we'll be asking them for tickets to one of their concerts. It could happen!
